The richest of the F4, Domyoji Tsukasa is spoiled and a bully. He's used to having his way, to paying people to get things done for him, had immense strength, and is rather underhanded, too. And he has weird brain circuitry that gives him weird logic plus wrong English/character usage.
Throughout the series, his transformation from childish to a man capable of anything he sets his mind to is admirable and rather staggering. While naturally goal-oriented, having focus gives him drive and determination, a purpose.
Tsukasa grew up in an extremely wealthy household, with only his older sister Tsubaki to act as the mother figure in his life. Because of this, he idolizes his older sister and despises his manipulative mother, Kaede.
He grew up with four other children, all around the same age as he was, all coming from rich and influential families in Japan -- Hanazawa Rui, Nishikado Soujirou, and Mimasaka Akira. The four formed a strong bond with each other together with Todou Shizuka, and all went on to Eitoku.
Coming from a privileged life may have its perks, but it only served to disillusion the young Tsukasa very early on in life. Being the heir, people have sucked up to him all his life, and has looked at him as a means to get to his father and the rest of the Doumyouji Group. As a result, he became not only spoiled and arrogant, but also distrustful and jaded about how people relate to him. He hardly ever shows his real self, but only a rebellious mask to hide the loneliness he feels especially when Tsubaki leaves home to get married and live in the United States.
Tsukasa kept getting more and more violent -- that is, until Makino Tsukushi came along. Tsukushi, coming from a poor family, was forced by her mother to enter the prestigious Eitoku in the hopes of her capturing a rich boyfriend and elevating the status of their family. The normally outgoing and protective Tsukushi repressed her true self for her first few years in Eitoku; however, chance happened that Tsukushi and Tsukasa crossed paths. The result was sheer disaster -- or so it seemed, when Tsukushi fought back.
Tsukasa became obsessed with kicking Tsukushi out of school, being the only person who has ever dared to go against him. However, the obsession soon changed to a plain and simple obsession with Tsukushi -- so far the only person who doesn't suck up to him and isn't fazed by his status in society, growing into an ardent and overpowering love and need for her.
His quest to make Tsukushi fall in love with him, and his quest to keep her love and make sure of her safety from his power-mad, manipulative, and status-conscious mother transformed him from an arrogant, cocky rich kid into a determined, focused young man.
